About Photo Restore Lab

Most advice about restoring old photographs is either a software advert in disguise or a forum post from 2009. This site is an attempt at something more useful: clear, tested walkthroughs of how to rescue damaged and fading photographs, with honest notes on where each method falls short.

We publish it because we also make Photo Restore, an iPhone app that does much of this automatically. We think you should know that up front. Where the app is genuinely the easiest route we will say so; where a free method works just as well, we will say that too. A guide that only ever recommends our own product is an advert, and adverts do not earn anyone's trust.
